Our Team
David McMichael
David is a writer, fundraiser, and arts organizer/producer. He currently works as the Senior Principal Gifts Writer at The University of Texas at Austin, managing university-wide proposal development and writing for gifts of $5 million and above. He is also the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Austin-based film nonprofit Hyperreal Film Club where he has produced hundreds of pop-up events since 2016 and, in 2024, opened a brick-and-mortar screening space in downtown East Austin.
David has a decade’s worth of fundraising, communications, and non-profit management experience in arts and higher education spaces from shoe-string budget projects to Tier 1 university initiatives. He holds a BA in English from Abilene Christian University and a MA in Anthropology from U of Maryland at College Park.
Cate Graziani
Cate currently serves as the Co-Director of VOCAL-TX, a state chapter of a national organization working to end overdose, mass incarceration, homelessness and HIV/AIDS. Before launching VOCAL-TX, Cate co-founded and ran the Texas Harm Reduction Alliance. She also teaches as an adjunct Assistant Professor in the UT Austin School of Social Work.
Cate has 14 years of grant writing experience, winning millions of dollars for social service, advocacy and organizing nonprofits. She holds a BA in Sociology from UNC Chapel Hill, a Masters of Science in Social Work from UT Austin, a Masters of Public Affairs from UT Austin and a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. She is also a Fulbright Scholar alumni.
